I Trust You, Father

Updated: Oct 2

‘I trust you, Father.’

Often a simple whisper from my heart that escapes my lips, soothing and settling my anxious spirit. Repeating it several times, my mind can begin to fully embrace this powerful truth.

I really can trust God.

I am slowly learning, it’s in my surrender, God works best. When I stop my striving and come to the place of ‘only God’, He can really begin to work. Declaring He is trustworthy not only reminds me of God’s faithfulness, but also opens the door for God to nurture those places of doubt and fear.

Can’t you hear the tender voice of your Father even now as He replies, ‘Yes my child, you CAN trust me.’

I have found that my heart and mind simply cannot maintain peace in difficult seasons by their own efforts. I will never be able to muster it up or create it. True peace is a person, not a place, who can only be found when I am willing to surrender. I need only to humbly abide in Christ and let His Spirit work.

Some days it’s easier than others. On the harder days, I need to settle in deeper with my journal and literally write out the Truth. I make an actual list of what I know to be true of God…

God loves me.

God is merciful.

God forgives me.

God is faithful.

God is just.

God is compassionate.

God is always with me.

God is sovereign.

God is my Father.

God is my strength.

And so many more.

Try it. Next time the enemy rushes to pursue your most vulnerable places, remember, God pursues you even more. He rushes in to protect you! His plans are for your good and His glory. And, in those weak moments when you need to trust God more, choose to focus on who He is.

Speak them aloud as you write them (out loud and writing have a stronger impact than simply thinking!) Walk around your house and proclaim His faithfulness. Ask Him to move you from a place of doubt and fear to a place of deep, abiding faith in Him alone.

Whisper how much you love Him and need Him. Thank Him that He never moves or changes. He is constant and caring. He is your faithful Father. Sweet friend, you really can trust Him with it all.
